@El Jefe
Short shorts on a whole (and not Jodzio's specifically) don't really work for me.

Friday sounds like it's going to be a blast. Sadly, I'll be working.

I loved it, but agree that the longer the stories the better they were for me. Although one of the best is really short, Make-a-wish. 10 pages seemed to be his sweet spot here. Friday will be fun.

In the past week I've seen this book reference so much that now I can't not read it. From Facebook to here to LHB ... I'm stoked.

Casey! Good to see you writing here...a more masterful literary mind I know not...Haven't read Black Hills, but I trust your judgment--I'm assuming that it reads like the worst part of the Terror (when we see all the other stuff going on outside the Arctic--the charlatans, etc...), superfluous bits and pieces of knowledge added simply because Simmons found them. The moment I get a moment, I'll pick up Drood...Thanks for the review!

@Casey
I swear sometime soon I am going to go through and see how many people answered that question with Jordan Baker. Until then, I will do work or something.

Anyway, the collection's good. I really enjoyed it.

People keep telling me that I'll like Dan Simmons, so I got an arc of this book back in January, but I haven't yet started it. I may take your advice and dive into Drood first, which is one I have been wanting to read.

Doesn't it suck when you want to love a book but it lets you down? I've been so frustrated with that lately!

Instantly when I read your title I started singing that whole song in my head. That's probably something I shouldn't admit.
